The Flu Shot: What’s in It and How Long Will It Protect Me?

flu shot sneezeIt’s important to get the flu shot every year. The influenza strains from which the shot protects you can change year to year, and the effectiveness of the vaccine can wane over the course of a year.

This year’s flu vaccination will help protect you from three viruses: two influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) viruses and an influenza B virus. Researchers believe these are the most common viruses infecting people during flu season.
