This isn’t your ordinary weight-loss program. The Weight Loss & Wellness Center is the only central Illinois based program that offers customized, physician-led weight-loss and wellness programs.
There’s a lot more to weight loss than a number on a scale. And a one-size-fits-all approach just doesn’t cut it. Memorial’s program looks at everything – including your nutritional, physical and lifestyle needs.
Thorough medical assessment
A successful weight loss program should being with a thorough medical assessment. Our program includes full diagnostic testing, a nutritional evaluation, a physical work-up and a lifestyle analysis.
Not only does this workup enable us to dig deep to determine all the factors that may play into your weight loss, but it will also uncover any underlying health issues that could be contributing to your condition.
After the initial global health assessment, a fully customized plan will be developed just for you. Your plan may consist of any one of the following key areas.

Medical therapies can include monthly visits with physicians trained specifically in weight loss and prevention techniques, specialty consultations, medications and, if necessary, a referral to our surgical weight-loss program. Not all individuals will need all aspects of medical therapies; the type of therapy depends on your personal needs.
Education counseling sessions will assist in learning lifestyle modifications and new approaches to food in your daily routine. Counseling may uncover views of food or unhealthy habits that may be preventing you from reaching your healthiest potential. Lifestyle coaches will arm you with the tools and knowledge you need to realize and overcome any barriers to healthy living.
Nutritional counseling keeps you on track with scientifically-accurate information about healthful foods and developing healthy eating habits. Individual counseling sessions provide custom meal plans as well as social events like cooking classes and grocery store tours for healthy foods.
If you’ve never or rarely participated in any exercise regimens previously, beginning a new routine will be stressful on your body. Physical therapies include a three-phase regimen to build your activity level. One-on-one sessions with a therapist, group exercise at SportsCare and a discounted membership at YMCA will help put you on the path to regular exercise.
